🇭🇷 Croatia digital nomad visa: requirements

Croatia was an early mover on nomad permits and remains attractive thanks to its tax treatment: foreign-earned income is generally not taxed under the scheme. Two big things changed recently — the permit now runs up to 18 months, and the income bar jumped to one of the highest in Europe because it is pegged to the (rising) average Croatian salary.

Income requirement

You need to show roughly €3,623 per month. Set by formula at 2.5× the average Croatian net salary, which put the 2026 bar at about €3,622.50/month — a steep rise from earlier years, so ignore older guides quoting under €3,000. Instead of monthly income you can show a lump sum covering the whole stay (about €65,205 for the full 18 months).

Health insurance

Travel or private health insurance valid in Croatia for the full period of stay. This is the step that rejects the most applications, so it's worth getting right.

Tax

Income earned from foreign clients is generally not taxed in Croatia under the nomad scheme — a notable advantage.

How long it lasts

Up to 18 months, not renewable back-to-back — you must leave for at least 6 months before reapplying. It is mainly a temporary route rather than a path to permanent residency.
